SPAN 401 - Introduction To Latin American Literary & Cultural Studies
Designed as a workshop, this course prepares students to frame, conduct, and produce research on Latin American literature and culture; students are required to take it upon entering the program. The course has three overlapping learning objectives (1) to develop students’ ability to analyze literary and cultural texts; (2) to develop strategies and methods to locate, evaluate, and manage primary and secondary sources related to a specific research project; and (3) to acquaint students with some of the major critical and theoretical debates in the field.
